Police in Go Vap ward, Ho Chi Minh city, are investigating Nguyen Tri Su, born in 1987, who has six previous criminal convictions and is suspected of involvement in multiple bicycle thefts in the area.
Previously, after monitoring information circulating on social media, Go Vap Ward police discovered a report of a theft and launched an investigation to identify the suspect.
On the morning of October 1, authorities identified Su as a suspect and summoned him to the police station for questioning.
According to the investigation, Su has no stable place of residence. He has five previous convictions for theft and one for illegal trading of narcotic substances.
A rapid drug test showed that he tested negative for drugs, Vietnam detective services.
At the police station, Su admitted that at around 1:30 a.m. on September 25, while walking near 71 Nguyen Van Luong Street, he stole a bicycle belonging to K.N.D., born in 1982.
The bicycle was estimated to be worth approximately VND 4 million.
Further investigations revealed that Su was also suspected of involvement in several other bicycle thefts in Go Vap Ward. Notably, when he was detected by the authorities, he was preparing to steal another bicycle.
The stolen property has been recovered. Go Vap Ward police are continuing their investigation and gathering evidence to handle the case in accordance with the law.
