Dak Lak: Man stabs woman seriously then turns himself in

Young man stole 400 iPhones while serving sentence

While serving a suspended sentence for illegal gambling, a young man in Phu Tho province committed a large-scale theft, drawing public attention.

On July 31, the Phu Tho police announced the temporary detention of Nguyen Phuong Nam, 24 years old, residing in Xuan Lang commune, Phu Tho province for investigation on charges of “theft of property.”

According to initial findings, in early April 2025, Nguyen Phuong Nam broke into a phone store in Vinh Phuc Ward (Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province) and stole 400 iPhone 6 devices along with various accessories.

He later sold the stolen items for VND 22 million (approx. USD 865) and spent the money for personal use.

In mid-July, Nam returned to the same store and stole a computer case, which he sold for VND 9 million (approx. USD 350). All proceeds from both thefts were completely spent.

Notably, at the time of the crimes, Nguyen Phuong Nam was still serving a 10-month suspended sentence handed down on September 11, 2024, by the Ha Hoa District People’s Court for the crime of illegal gambling.

His probationary period was set at 30 months.

Quang Tri: Woman who borrowed billions was prosecuted

After lending over 1 billion VND and repeatedly failing to recover the debt, a woman in Quang Tri reported the case to the police.

Vietnam detective agency, following an investigation, authorities prosecuted and detained the suspect on charges of fraud and appropriation of property.

On July 22, the Quang Tri Provincial Police announced that the Criminal investigation agency had issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Nguyen Thi Linh born 1986, residing in Vinh Linh, Quang Tri province for the crime of “Fraud and appropriation of property.”

According to the investigation, due to business losses and mounting debts, Linh developed the idea of gambling online in hopes of repaying what she owed.

To get money for gambling, she provided false information and borrowed more than 1 billion VND from Mrs. N.T.Y. (residing in the same district).

Despite multiple demands for repayment, Linh failed to return the borrowed money.

Mrs. Y. subsequently filed a complaint with the Quang Tri Provincial Police.

Based on the investigation results, authorities decided to initiate a criminal case, prosecute the suspect, and temporarily detain Nguyen Thi Linh for further legal proceedings.

Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa province arrested for investigation

The Ministry of Public security’s investigation police agency has prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Le Duc Giang, Vice chairman of the People’s committee of Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam.

Thanh Hoa: Arrest of a subject who used a knife to rob property

The Criminal Police Division of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, in coordination with local police in the communes of Yen Ninh, Sao Vang, and Tho Long, successfully investigated and apprehended a dangerous suspect who had been targeting women walking or riding alone to rob them of their belongings.

Car parked in alley in Ho Chi Minh city covered with glue
