Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnamese private detectives – A 47 year old man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a karaoke hostess with a glass, leaving her with injuries assessed at 22%.
Police in Ho Chi Minh city said on July 2 that they had charged and detained Ha Manh Dung on suspicion of intentionally inflicting bodily harm.
According to Vietnam investigators, Dung and six friends visited the Golden Bell karaoke venue on Go Dau street in Tan Son Nhi ward on the evening of May 14, 2026.
The group drank beer, sang karaoke, and requested female attendants to accompany them.
Dung arrived later that night and joined the group. He also asked for a hostess to sit with him.
In the early hours of the following morning, Dung allegedly grabbed the woman’s arm and twisted it behind her back.
The hostess, who said she was in pain, kicked at him and pointed a finger at his face.
Enraged, Dung allegedly slapped the woman before striking her on the head and face with a drinking glass.
The victim screamed for help and ran out of the room. Dung and his friends attempted to leave but were stopped by karaoke staff, who alerted police.
The woman was taken to hospital. A medical assessment determined that she had suffered injuries resulting in a 22% bodily impairment.
She later requested that authorities pursue criminal charges against Dung.
