Police in Da Nang have uncovered a series of thefts after arresting a man accused of robbing two iPhones from tourists at a local beach.
According to investigators, the suspect took advantage of visitors who had left their belongings unattended while swimming, Danang detective services.
He allegedly stole two iPhones belonging to tourists before fleeing the scene. Following reports from the victims, police launched an investigation and identified the suspect.
After being taken into custody, the man confessed not only to the beach robbery but also to seven other theft cases committed in different locations across the city.
Authorities said the incidents followed a similar pattern, with the suspect targeting victims who were distracted or had left valuable items unattended.
Police are currently working to verify the suspect’s statements, identify additional victims, and recover stolen property. Investigators are also examining whether the man may have been involved in other unsolved theft cases.
Authorities have warned residents and visitors to take extra precautions when carrying valuables in public areas, particularly at beaches and tourist attractions where large crowds can create opportunities for criminals.
