Ho Chi Minh detective, Thuong was temporarily detained by Ho Chi Minh city police to investigate the act of causing environmental pollution.
According to the investigation agency, since 2019, Thuong has set up an aluminum smelting and recycling workshop on a large plot of land on the edge of a cajuput forest, Vinh Loc B commune, Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh city.
Thuong directed the dumping of untreated waste such as ash and aluminum slag… on site, or in areas along the forest.
The amount of industrial solid waste generated from aluminum smelting and recycling activities, dumped directly, is nearly 8,000 tons.
These substances are assessed by the investigation agency to cause serious pollution.
