Man smashes ATM pillars on crowded street: Urban security warning. At around 7:30 p.m. on May 8, 2025, on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak,Vietnam, a man used bricks and stones to smash two ATM pillars of VietinBank and BIDV, causing serious damage to these devices.
Incident Development
People in the area discovered Mr. C’s vandalism and quickly reported it to the authorities. Tan An Ward Police arrived promptly, controlled him, and brought him to the headquarters for questioning. According to initial information, Mr. C. showed signs of mental instability.

The act of smashing ATM pillars not only causes property damage but also affects urban security and order. This is not the first case to occur in Vietnam. Previously, there have been many similar incidents in other localities, such as the incident in Ho Chi Minh City in December 2024, when a man was arrested for using a crowbar to smash an Agribank ATM.
