Police in Ho Chi Minh City discovered four Chinese nationals renting an apartment to carry out online fraud.
Vietnamese detectives, the group rented an apartment in Phu Thuan Ward, in the former District 7 area.
They made phone calls to people in China. The calls followed pre-written scripts.
Their goal was to trick victims into transferring money. The group then took the money, Ho Chi Minh detective.
During an inspection of the apartment, authorities found many phones and computers. These devices were allegedly used for the fraudulent operation.
On August 28, authorities completed procedures to deport the four individuals to China through Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
The case was discovered during increased inspections of foreign residents and accommodation facilities in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam.
Previously, police had also uncovered several groups of foreign nationals renting houses or hotel rooms.
They gathered in large groups, installed internet connections, and used numerous phones and computers for online fraud.
