The Long An Border Guard, Vietnam, said it had arrested two suspects in a drug trafficking ring, Vietnam detective agency.
Ho Chi Minh detective, these two people in Mai’s ring are Bui Ngoc Lan and Dam Quang Thuong, living in Ho Chi Minh city.
The Border Guard coordinated with local police to arrest Mai, from Tay Ninh while driving a 7-seat car from Dong Thap to Tan Hung district, Long An, Vietnam.
Checking the car, the police discovered 32 blocks of solid substances disguised in tea bags. These packages contained 20 kg of methamphetamine, 6 kg of ketamine and more than 4.1 kg of heroin.
Mai said he was hired by an unidentified man in Cambodia to transport the goods to Ho Chi Minh City for 2,000 USD.
Mai knew it was drugs but accepted the generous payment. On the evening of March 11, he drove a car from Tay Ninh to Hong Ngu city, Dong Thap so that two Cambodian men could put the drugs in the car.
Mai then contacted the recipients, Lan and Thuong, in Ho Chi Minh City. On the way, Mai was arrested while delivering drugs to these two people.
